Domaine de Montcalmes - Grenache 2021
Domaine de Montcalmès is located in Languedoc , in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation for its red wines and Coteaux du Languedoc for its whites. The estate covers 22 hectares, in the communes of Puéchabon, Aniane, Saint-Jean-de-Fos and Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian. Domaine de Montcalmès has been run by Frédéric Pourtalié and his sister, Muriel , since 1998. They cultivate Syrah and Grenache vines with an average age of thirty years, as well as Mourvèdre. The estate has been organically farmed since 2012, and certified since 2015.
Grenache comes from vines around thirty years old planted on a limestone plateau facing north, in the commune of Puéchabon . The vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts and undergoes a 30-day maceration. The aging takes place in oak barrels of one wine, two wines or more for 24 months . The wine is bottled without filtration.
