Velier was founded in 1947 by Casimiro Chaix, in Genoa , Italy . With his partner Arturo Lupi, they created a small classic wine and spirits import company in 1953 and distributed champagne, grappa, but also tea and cocoa. In 1983, Gian Luca Gargano , the marketing director of Spirit SpA (the largest import company in Italy) became a shareholder in the company and in 1985, Velier specialized in importing the best spirits intended in particular for restaurants and wine bars. In 1988, Velier was the first Italian company to import wines from the New World. It was from 1992 that they began to select casks of old Single Malts and Rums for their brand, which they developed from 1995. In 2001, the first selection of Damoiseau rums was offered by Velier.
This Clairin Vieux Sajous is the result of the distillation of Cristalline sugar cane grown on the Saint Michel de l'Attalaye plateau in Haiti. It was distilled in 2019 and aged for 5 years in 21 barrels that previously contained single malt or rum.
