Domaine Camin Larredya - La Virada 2023
Domaine Camin Larredya is located in La Chapelle de Rousse, in the Jurançon wine region. It has been owned by Jean-Marc Grussaute since 1988 and was voted "Winemaker of the Year 2023". The Camin Larredya vineyard extends over 9.5 hectares, of which 4 hectares are cultivated on terraces. The vines are managed using certified organic farming methods , and each vintage comes from a specific plot. The estate also buys conventional grapes from Christian Pédéflous and Philippe Vigneau and Sylvie and David Lacazette .
La Virada is a blend of equal parts Courbu, Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng . The vines are planted on clay-siliceous soils on subsoils of weathered puddingstone. After manual harvesting, the whole bunches are put into direct pressing. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in 1,200-litre tuns. The wine is aged for 8 months on lees in 1,200-litre tuns .
