Château PAVIE MACQUIN 1985
Château Pavie Macquin is located in Saint-Emilion , on the right bank of Bordeaux . It is classified Premier Grand Cru Classé B. Originally, Château Pavie Macquin was part of the estate of 19th - century merchant Ferdinand Bouffard. It was purchased by Albert Macquin, who distinguished himself individually as a pioneer in the use of rootstocks to combat the phylloxera epidemic. The current owners of the château are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the Corre and Charpentier families . Pavie Macquin now borders two other Pavie estates, Château Pavie and Château Pavie-Decesse, both owned by Gérard Perse.
The 1985 vintage for Bordeaux was absolutely remarkable. The spring was cold and wet, marked by a few storms. Heavy hail caused some damage in May and June, but warm weather followed at flowering time. July remained warm and saw some rainfall, while August, although cooler, saw very little rain. September was both hot and dry, ideal for ripening.
