Champagne Sacy Sister and Brother - The Chardonnays of Verzy 2021
The Champagne Louis de Sacy House is located in Verzy, in the Montagne de Reims in Champagne . In 1962, André Sacy decided to produce his own champagne by founding Champagne Sacy Père et Fils, which later became Champagne Louis de Sacy in 1986. His son, Alain Sacy, then developed the house, particularly internationally. Today, Yaël and Jonathan Sacy , representing the 13th generation, run the house. They joined the family business in 2013, bringing a new philosophy to the vineyard and winemaking. The estate covers 18 hectares spread over 6 communes and 27 plots. The vineyards are cultivated with respect for the environment , with part of the estate certified organic since the 2023 harvest, and another part is in organic conversion.
In 2024, Yaël and Jonathan Sacy launched their own brand, Sacy Sœur & Frère , with the aim of offering an innovative interpretation of the terroirs of the family estate. The two siblings have oriented their work towards plot-by-plot vinification, spontaneous fermentation, and the minimal use of inputs, sometimes without sulfur.
The Chardonnays de Verzy are made from Chardonnay from the Saint-Bets (higher up the hillsides) and Croix de l'Aumonier (lower down the hillsides) areas of the Grand Cru Verzy . The grapes are from the 2021 vintage, fermentation occurred spontaneously in barrels and malolactic conversion took place naturally. The wine is bottled with an Extra-brut dosage of 0.8 g/L . 1200 bottles were produced.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
