Often considered one of the best wines of the appellation, Château Suduiraut is a close neighbor of Yquem. Reconstituted in the 17th century by Count Blaise de Sudu
iraut after the wars of the Fronde, the domain includes a beautiful house whose gardens were designed by Le Nôtre. The vineyard of Château Suduiraut rests on a heterogeneous soil, composed of serious sandy and silliceuses associated with clay-limestone soils. Its location, near the Ciron and the Garonne, is particularly favorable for the appearance, in the fall, of the famous noble rot or "botrytis cinerea". The richness of the terroir allows today to obtain extremely refined and complex wines. Château Suduiraut is a tasty and intensely sweet wine that develops magnificent aromas after a long stay in the bottle. Note, the production, in great vintages, of a Cuvée Crème de Tête (formerly called Cuvée Madame) which can compete with the prestigious Château d'Yquem. Please note: due to the disastrous weather conditions, the 1991, 1992 and 1993 vintages were not produced.
