Pierre-Jean Villa began his wine career in Burgundy in 1992. He then worked for prestigious estates such as Mommessin or Clos de Tart. In 2003, he joined Yves Cuilleron, François Villard and Pierre Gaillard at Vins de Vienne where he was in charge of the cellar for 6 years.
Strengthened by his multiple experiences in great French estates, Pierre-Jean Villa set out on his own in 2009. He bought vines in the Northern Rhône and began his new life as an independent winegrower.
The same year, he created with Olivier Decelle, Mas Amiel and Château Jean Faure, the Decelle-Villa estate in Nuits-Saint-George where he rediscovered the pleasure of working with Pinot Noir.
Today, Pierre-Jean Villa's range of Rhône wines is made up of Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and Côte Rôtie. The Côte Rôtie Carmina is gaining in strength but retains a pulpy mid-palate with mature tannins. (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2018 - RVF)
In reference to Carmina Burana, this Côte Rôtie combines power, purity, complexity and sensuality.
