At Molitor, everything is done by hand, because no machine can pass between these vines located on extremely steep slopes (up to 80% incline). The vineyard of Markus initially extended over only 7.5 hectares, it now makes 38 in the heart of Wehlener Klosterberg, overlooking the Moselle and Zeltingen. The vineyard of the estate is made up of 95% Riesling, 3% Späetburgunder (Pinot Noir) and 2% Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc). The producer, proud of his region which has been internationally recognized for more than a century for its wines, has a vision and a precise goal: to be among the greatest German winegrowers.
Thanks to meticulous work in the vineyard and a lot of patience and know-how in the cellar, Markus Molitor and his wines perfectly express the multitude of terroirs offered by his estate. Fermentations are long and made from indigenous yeasts. The barrels used are magnificent casks of 1000 to 3000 liters. He produces wines with structure and freshness in order to obtain enormous longevity. Production of 200 to 300,000 bottles each year, all Molitor wines are known by sommeliers around the world for having a beautiful aromatic depth and great minerality.
