The estate was created in 1919 in Gevrey-Chambertin. Jean-Louis Trapet, at the head of the estate, is the son of Jean and the cousin of the Rossignol-Trapet. He is married to an Alsatian, Andrée, and this couple of winegrowers therefore tries to lead the Burgundy domain and the Alsatian domain together, while remaining firmly established in Gevrey. Jean-Louis switched to biodynamics in the 1990s, first advised by François Bouchet, then by Pierre Masson. Jean-Louis resorts to partial destemming, he practices cold pre-fermentation macerations, he favors long vatting and he uses gravity to enter his wines. He uses 30 to 75% new barrels, depending on the vintage. He refuses the use of sulfur, both at harvest time and during vinification or aging, settling for a small dose at bottling.
