Arianna Occhipinti! If you do not yet know this name, remember it because this young woman is making her mark on Sicilian viticulture! Its wines are now ranked among the greatest Italian bottles. Praise is raining down on her and it is well deserved, as the wines that this talented winegrower shapes, vintage after vintage, amaze with their purity and finesse. Deeply attached to her native island, she approaches wine with a spirit of rare freedom, refreshing spirits and shaking up pre-conceived ideas. She shapes distinctive wines that reflect the terroirs of her vineyard, with the utmost respect for natural balances. Making so-called natural wine is not an end in itself here, but a means of making great wines.
It was at the age of 16 that Arianna began her apprenticeship in wine by following her uncle Giusto Occhipinti from Domaine COS in Vinitaly. Trained at a good school, she decided all the same to continue her bachelor's degree by studying oenology at the University of Milan. In 2004, she returned to her native land, in the region of Vittoria in Sicily, and set out to create her own estate. She then cultivates her first plot located in the place called "Fossa di Lupo", planted in particular with Frappato, a grape variety offering floral and elegant wines. Her first vintage came out in 2006. Arianna was just 24 years old at the time! The estate then expanded between 2005 thanks to the planting of 8 ha composed of Nero d'Avola, Frappato and two white grape varieties Albanello and Zibibbo (Muscat of Alexandria). In 2006 and then in 2010, Arianna recovers plots made up of old Frappato and Nero d'Avola vines, in particular on the localities of Bombolieri, Bastonaca and Pettineo. Finally, in 2012, Arianna bought Azienda Bomboleri, a neighboring estate made up of 6.5ha of organically grown vines.
