ALTOS LAS HORMIGAS - Malbec Classico - Biodynamics 2017
It covers 216 hectares of which 36 are currently planted with Malbec at an altitude of around 800 m. The grape variety continues at even higher altitudes. The Altos Las Hormigas estate is deliberately oriented towards viticulture of impeccable quality and respectful of the environment. The Altos las Hormigas vines are grown organically with absolute respect for the biodiversity of the Uco Valley.
Terroir; Blend of malbec from the high altitude sectors (over 800 m) of Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco in Mendoza. Poor, sandy and gravelly soils, and moderate yields.
Elaboration; The grapes from the different vineyards are vinified separately before the final blend. Fermentation in vats with indigenous yeasts, and aging in new barrels (French and American).
