PIO CESARE - II BRICCO BARBARESCO 2013
The Pio Cesare Estate is located in Piedmont, Italy. It was created in 1881 by Cesare Pio, it is one of the oldest in the region and one of the first to export its wines from Barolo and Barbaresco. The estate is still managed by the descendants of Cesare Pio today, the Boffa family. The winery is located in the center of the city of Alba and built on the ancient Roman walls of the city. The vineyard covers 70 hectares: 31.78 hectares in Barolo, 26.90 hectares in Barbaresco and 10.35 hectares between these two regions.
The Barbaresco Il Bricco comes from the land of Cascina Il Bricco in Treiso. On 13.55 hectares, 5.63 hectares are planted with Nebbiolo for the production of Barbaresco. The Il Bricco vineyard is characterised by a high altitude (390 meters above sea level) and therefore a very cool climate. The wine is made from a meticulous selection of Nebbiolo grapes, the ripest, on three plots of this vineyard. The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at high temperature with a skin maceration of 30 days. The wine is aged in large French oak barrels called "Botti" for about 30 months. About 6,000 bottles were produced for this 2013 vintage. Its aging potential is estimated until 2035.
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo
