Domaine Marchand Grillot et Fils - Chambolle Musigny 2000
The Marchand family and the Grillot family were both like the vine: well rooted in the Burgundy vineyard. Indeed, we must go back 7 generations to find the first man who began to take an interest in the vineyard to get the best of it, in Morey-St-Denis for the Marchands and in Gevrey-Chambertin for the Grillots. It was in 1950, through a marriage, that the Marchand-Grillot estate was born and settled permanently in Gevrey-Chambertin.
Today, Jacques Marchand is at the head of the estate, conveying know-how passed down for generations as well as a great experience. To his side, his son Etienne Marchand, who gradually takes over the reins, assisted by his sister Marion.
The Marchand-Grillot estate owns 9 hectares of 47 parcels spread over five Côte de Nuits villages: Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Gilly-les-Cîteaux and Brochon.
The Chambolle-Musigny is a very aromatic and floral wine, supple and round. It has the reputation of being the "feminine wine" of the Côte de Nuits. The vine rests on a marly, clay-limestone subsoil with calcareous brown in topsoil.
