Domaine de La Réaltière - Sauvèdes 2018

The Domaine de la Réaltière is located in Rians in Provence, in the Coteaux d'Aix en Provence appellation. The estate was created by Jean-Louis Michelland in 1994, and has been managed by his son Pierre Michelland since 2001. The vineyard spreads over 12.5 hectares and is surrounded by an olive grove and a forest of holm oaks and pine trees. The vines have been cultivated organically since 1994 and certified biodynamic since 2011.

Sauvèdes is made from 78-year-old Grenache Noir, located on a plot called Sauvede. The grapes are macerated for 5 weeks then begin their fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged in jars for 10 months. Only 1,300 bottles were produced.
