Domaine de Courcel - Pommard 1er Cru - Croix Noires 2017
The Domaine de Courcel is located in the commune of Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy. The estate has four Premier Cru climats planted exclusively with Pinot Noir: Le Grand Clos des Epenots, Les Rugiens, Les Frémiers and Les Croix Noires. Domaine de Courcel has belonged to the Courcel family since the 17th century. Today, the 10.5 hectares of vines on the estate are under the responsibility of Anne Bommelaer and Marie de Courcel. All cultivation techniques are made according to organic farming for land and environmental respect.
Les Croix Noires (0.58 hectares) is located below Les Rugiens, and adjoins Les Frémiers to the north. The Domaine owns more than half of the total area of the locality. The plot is about 40 years old and faces east-west.
The vinification takes place over a month. After careful sorting, the whole bunches are placed in the vats. Cold maceration, followed by fermentation at low temperature, allows better extraction of the aromas. Frequent punching down and pumping over are carried out. A post-fermentation carbonic maceration is then carried out. Aging takes place in carefully selected oak barrels, the stock of which is renewed by thirds each year. After thorough extraction of about one month, the wines are aged over a period of 21 to 23 months.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
