RENEGADE - Pre Cask - Pearls - 50%
Renegade Rum Distillery is the newest project from the man behind the renaissance of Islay’s Bruichladdich Single Malt whisky and Ireland’s terroir-driven Waterford Distillery: Mark Reynier. He chose Grenada because of its wide range of altitudes, microclimates and soils. Working with agricultural partners at CaneCo, he was able to grow numerous varieties of sugar cane across the island on the various terroirs. Old and young, skilled or amateur, numerous Grenadians have learned new skills, mastered modern machinery, and transformed parts of the island into farms full of high quality sugar cane.
Pearls is made from a variety called Yellow Lady (B89447) harvested between the 25th and the 29th of January 2021 on the Grapefruit field located between the mangrove and water meadow, with a distinctive bank iron-rich volcanic laterite at its centre. The fermentation of the cane lasted 60 hours and distillation took place on the 29th and 30th of October 2021 is a pot still. The rum was bottled at the end of June 2021 and 3,942 bottles have been produced.
More information is available on Renegade’s Website in the “CaneCode” section with the code shown on the bottle.
