Domaine Christophe Semaska - Chateau de Montlys - Côte Rôtie 2018
Domaine Christophe Semaska is located in Ampuis, in the north of the Rhône Valley. In 1988, he bought the Château de Montlys and its 8 hectares of terraced hillsides. Today, the vineyard consists of 15 hectares of vines divided into several appellations: Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Côtes-du-Rhône and IGP Coteaux de Vienne.
This Côte-Rôtie is made from Syrah from the Lancement plot, planted on the heights of the Côte Blonde in 1972. Aging lasts 24 months in new barrels.
The Côte-Rôtie is made from manually harvested Syrah. The harvest is 90% destemmed and then vinified for 20 to 30 days in closed stainless steel vats, under temperature control and automatic homogenisation by the natural force created by the carbon dioxide from fermentation. The wine is aged half in new barrels and half in barrels of 1 to 3 yearsfor 24 months.
Grape variety: 100% Syrah
