Quinta da Corte - Princesa 2019
Quinta da Côrte is located in the Douro, in Portugal. It belongs to Philippe Austruy from Vignobles Austruy (La Commanderie de Peyrassol in Provence, Château Malescasse in Bordeaux, Tenuta Casenuove in Italy). For many years, when it was owned by the local Pacheco and Irmãos families, the Quinta produced grapes and occasional batches of wine which it sold to major Port producers such as Delaforce, Croft, Taylor’s and Ramos Pinto. Under the influence of Philippe Austruy, the vineyard and the wine store were the first receive attention, and for the 2013 vintage the Quinta da Côrte produced a Douro red. Stéphane Derenoncourt and his team have been entrusted with the task of adapting the vineyard and its working practices to meet new quality targets. Quinta da Côrte covers 24 hectares; its plots, mainly planted in terraces and patamares, contain a fine diversity of old vines and about 40 different varieties. They are mainly on northerly or north-easterly exposures to provide protection from the fierce sunlight
Princesa is a blend of Touriga Franca (75%), Touriga Nacional (15%) and Tinto Cao (10%). Ageing lasts 12 months in 225- and 500-litres casks of one wine so that it does not impart too much wood flavours to the wine.
Grape varieties: 75% Touriga Franca, 15% Touriga Nacional, 10% Tinto Cao
