Le Vigne di Zamò - Pinot Grigio 2021
Le Vigne di Zamò is located in the municipality of Manzano in the Fruili-Venezia-Giulia region of Italy . In 1924, the Zamò family opened Osteria di Manzano, directed by Luigi, father of Tullio and grandfather of Pierluigi and Silvano, but it was really in 1978 that the adventure of Le Vigne di Zamò began when Tullio Zamò bought five hectares of vineyards on the Rocca Bernarda hill, and founded the Vigna del Leon estate. Over the years, the family extended the vineyard to 65 hectares, today made up of three different terroirs: Rosazzo, Buttrio and Rocca Bernarda.
The Pinot Grigio grapes are harvested at maximum maturity and destemmed upon arrival at the winery. Half of the quantity undergoes a cold maceration and ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel. The rest is macerated like a red wine for 4 days. Once pressed, the fermentation starts in oak barrels of 5 hectoliters. Throughout the aging period, the two batches remain separate. The only operation that takes place is the control of the malolactic fermentation on the wine in barrels, and the two cuvées are stirred once a week. After 6 months, the batches are blended and the wine is bottled.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Grigio
