Rizzi - Barbaresco - Pajoré 2017
Cantina Rizzi is located in Treiso, in Piedmont , Italy . The estate was founded in 1974 by Ernesto Dellapiana and his wife Lia . At that time, producing wine was not as "simple" as it is today: the custom was to plant wheat and not vines, the roads were not tarred, making connections difficult and the villages were isolated from each other, but Ernesto Dellapiana was driven by the passion and the dream of creating his own wines. Today, the Rizzi company as a whole comprises three individual farms confined to each other, in the municipality of Treiso, and a fourth in the municipality of Neviglie. The vineyard covers 44 hectares, planted with Nebbiolo da Barbaresco (the most important part), Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Freisa, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Over the years, Ernesto and his wife Lia were joined by their two children: Jole, who takes care of the commercial part, the management of the cellar and network sales, and Enrico, a graduate in Viticulture and Oenology at the Faculty of Agriculture from the University of Turin, engaged in technical management. The family pays great attention to respecting the environment and the ecosystem , thanks to the use of granulated manure, composts and green manure.
The vineyard inside Cru Pajoré , covering approximately 3 hectares, was incorporated between 2004 and 2007 by Rizzi. The terroir is made up of clay-limestone white marl. The vines are exposed to the south, at an altitude varying between 230 and 300 meters. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats and lasts 3 to 4 weeks. After the alcoholic fermentation, the wine is racked and undergoes a malolactic fermentation which normally lasts a month. The aging lasts 12 months in large oak barrels from Slavonia , then 6 to 9 months in concrete vats .
Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo
