Cristom - Mt. Jefferson Cuvée - Pinot Noir 2019
Cristom Vineyards is located in Salem, in the Willamette Valley, Oregon in the United States . The estate was founded in 1992 by Paul and Eileen Gerrie , and today consists of 5 vineyards in Eola-Amity-Hills over an area of more than 97 hectares. The estate's five vineyards are called Eileen, Jessie, Louise, Marjorie and Paul Gerrie Vineyard; they are all named after members of the founding family. They also source grapes from neighboring winemakers. The estate is managed according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture . The Cristom logo was commissioned as a kind of "coat of arms" for Paul Gerrie. It was created by artist Timothy Tyler and the name Cristom honors the Gerrie's two children, Christine and Tom.
Mt. Jefferson Cuvée is a blend of multiple plots of Pinot Noir , grown by partner winemakers based in Eola-Amity-Hills, along with Pinot Noir grapes from Cristom's own vineyards. Between 40 and 50% of the harvest is kept and vinified in whole bunches. The wine is aged for 11 months in French oak barrels , 30% of which are new.
