Wolf pruning domain - Jacky Blot - Les Hauts de Husseau 2021
The Domaine de La Taille aux Loups is located in Montlouis-sur-Loire , in the Loire Valley . It has existed since 1988, then under the management of a Bordelais who rented out 7 hectares of vines belonging to André Chapeau and Clément Germain. In 1990, the wine broker Jacky Blot takes care of the vinification of the vintage and over the years, becomes attached to the Domaine. Thus in 1992, he became the owner. In collaboration with Christophe Mesliand , they quickly forged a fine reputation. Jacky Blot attaches importance to respecting nature and the grape: no pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. The estate has been certified in organic farming since 2012. The choice of traditional plowing and manual harvesting is highlighted, as soon as the grapes reach perfect maturity. He avoids interventions in the cellar and prefers traditional breeding, without rushing the stages. Jacky Blot also owns the Domaine de la Butte in Bourgueil.
Les Hauts de Husseau is a plot-based cuvée made from old Chenin Blanc vines (70 to 80 years old). The plots, too small to be identified separately, have a very similar geology: clay with flint on limestone bedrock. The wine is aged for 16 to 18 months : 12 months in barrels, and the remaining months in barrels or in vats depending on the vintage.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
