Château La Negly - Le Clos des Truffiers 2020
Château la Négly is located in Occitanie , facing the Mediterranean, in the La Clape massif. In the 18th century, the Château bore the name of Ancely. It was in 1781 that the property took the name of Nerly to finally be called La Négly in 1807 and later obtained the name of Château. Several families have succeeded each other at the head of the estate. The Paux-Rosset family will definitively guide the vineyard in a qualitative production. The cultivation method is modified and the vines are completely replanted. The neighboring estate of Boède is leased. With the help of consultant oenologist Mr. Claude Gros, the vinification will be completely redesigned. Together, they bought the Boède estate in 2006 with a third partner, Alain Wittner. Today, Bastien Paux-Rosset, responsible for the culture, exploits these re-planted vineyards which extend over 75 hectares (the vineyard extends over 50 hectares and that of Boède over 25 hectares). Ideally exposed, the terroirs of Négly and Boède are distinguished by the diversity of their soils. In order to better enhance these, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre have replaced Aramon, Terret and Carignan blanc. The vineyard is conducted in sustainable agriculture .
Le Clos des Truffiers is a Syrah-dominated blend, supplemented with old-vine Grenache . Le Clos des Truffiers is located on the stony terraces of the village of Saint-Pargoire in the Hérault. The plot is harvested manually at maturity, then sorted twice. The grape berries macerate for 50 days in new truncated wooden vats of 50 hectoliters from the Troncey forest . The wine is then transferred to new French oak barrels of 225 liters for aging on lees. Production is low each year, between 2,700 and 4,200 bottles.
