Sandrine Farrugia - The Wave 2020
The Domaine de Sandrine Farrugia is located in Cocumont, in the Côtes du Marmandais in the South West of France. Born in French Guiana, she grew up in Paris and, as an adult, became a wine importer for Japan. Following her meeting with Elian Da Ros, wine producer, she moved to Lot et Garonne in 2008. In 2012, she acquired 52 ares of vines and set up as a winegrower. It now owns 4 hectares, and produces wines in certified organic farming , with biodynamic practices and low interventionist vinification .
La Vague is a blend of Abouriou (1/3), Cabernet Franc (1/3) and Merlot (1/3) , from a place called Baquey in Cocumont. The Abouriou is kept in whole bunches while the Cabernet Franc and the Merlot are de-stemmed. The grapes are lightly punched for a gentle extraction. The wine is aged for at least 18 months in old demi-muids , then in concrete vats.
