Armagnac - Chateau Laubade 1945
Château de Laubade is located in Sorbets, in the Bas Armagnac appellation. The Lesgourgues family has owned the Château since 1974. The property consists of 105 hectares of vines in one piece. The vineyard is managed in reasoned fight , according to the respect of the environment, with traceability and authenticity of the products as well as the respect of the soils. Château de Laubade is one of the very rare properties cultivating the four traditional grape varieties of the appellation: Ugni Blanc, Baco, Colombard and Folle Blanche. He has his own still which was specially custom made in 1974; this guarantees it total autonomy to distil all the wines on site, at the best time and grape variety by grape variety. It is the only house in Armagnac that makes its own barrels: oak from several forests in Gascony are selected on the vine, then dried in the open air for three years or more, and finally made to measure by a dedicated cooper. The Laubade Cellar Master ages each eau-de-vie separately in more than 3,000 400-litre barrels in seven aging cellars.
