Domaine La Grange des Pères - White 2019
The Domaine de la Grange des Pères is located in Aniane , in Languedoc . It produces small quantities of two of the region's most sought after and expensive wines . The estate was created in 1989 when Laurent Vaillé bought land near the Mas de Daumas Gassac. The land was rich in limestone, boulders and glacial scree and required a great deal of blasting and bulldozer work to produce an ideal terroir. Laurent Vaillé already had an excellent track record, having worked with Coche-Dury at Meursault, Gérard Chave at Hermitage and Eloi Durrbach at Domaine Trévallon in Provence. Organic and biodynamic methods are carried out in the vineyard but without certification . In May 2021, Laurent Vaillé suddenly disappeared, leaving a great void in the world of wine. Since then, his brother Bernard Vaillé has continued to vinify the wines of the Domaine.
La Grange des Pères Blanc is a blend of Roussanne (85%) and Marsanne (15%) . Previous vintages had a small proportion of Chardonnay in the blend, but this is no longer the case. The grape varieties are fermented separately , then assembled for malolactic fermentation and aging is carried out in 600-litre demi-muids .
Grapes: 85% Roussanne, 15% Marsanne
