DOG POINT - Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Dog Point is located in Marlborough , on the South Island of New Zealand . The estate was established by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland and is one of the oldest private wineries in Marlborough with its first plantings in the late 1970s. While working at Cloudy Bay Vineyards, Ivan met James Healy, where the duo has played an integral role in the evolution of the Cloudy Bay brand. Discovering that they shared the same aspirations, Ivan, Margaret, James and Wendy returned to a grassroots approach by launching the Dog Point label in 2004 with fruit from the 2002 vintage. Today, both couples are actively involved in all facets of the business. Succession plans are in place with the next generation of the Sutherland family involved in running the day-to-day operations. Dog Point Vineyard owns and operates New Zealand's largest certified organic 'Biogro' vineyard .
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are hand-harvested from eight plots at the Dog Point vineyard in the Wairau Valley. The fruit is pressed in whole bunches, cold settled before fermentation and aging lasts 3 to 4 months in stainless steel vats .
