Cantina Terlano - Chardonnay Tradition 2022
Cantina Terlano is located in the Alto-Adige region of Italy . The Terlano Winegrowers' Cooperative was created in 1893, at a time when agriculture was the pillar of the regional economy. Some innovative winemakers were looking to the Rheingau region of Germany for new ideas and importing grape varieties from Germany and France to their region. While red wines were more common in South Tyrol in the late 19th century (with a red/white ratio of 80/20), Cantina Terlano was already well known for its production of white wines. Today, 143 producers operate a total area of 190 hectares. A particularity of Terlano is the structure of the vineyards in small plots. The very high proportion of steep sites requires more manual work but is also the basis of the great potential of the Terlano vineyards. This terroir with its very distinctive character is the product of a combination of volcanic soils and a very particular microclimate.
Chardonnay Tradition is made from vines grown between 260 and 350 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting and careful selection of the grapes, the harvest is put into direct pressing. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats for 6 to 7 months on lees .
