Château Couhins La Gravette - White 2021

Château Couhins is located in Pessac-Léognan , in the Bordeaux wine region. The history of the estate dates back to the 17th century, when Couhins and what would become Château Carbonnieux were part of a single large estate south of Bordeaux. From the middle of the 18th century until the day after the Graves classification of 1955 (ratified in 1959), the estate was held by numerous owners until at the end of the 1960s the owners, the Gasqueton family, began the sales procedures for the estate. At this stage, André Lurton (who would create the Vignobles André Lurton merchant operation) had entered into a rental agreement for the vineyard, of which little remained. In 1968, the castle buildings were sold and the vineyard bought by INRA ( National Institute of Agronomic Research ) which maintained the lease with Lurton. In 1978, the lease expired and Lurton transferred the vines to INRA. The acquisition of the property by this organization aimed to satisfy the needs expressed by all the services of the Bordeaux research center and to have experimental grounds close to the research laboratories. Upon his arrival at the management of the property in April 1999, Dominique Forget imposed an avant-garde vision on the absolute necessity of developing precise, sustainable viticulture that respects people and the environment. Since 2022, the vineyard has been certified in organic farming .

Couhins La Gravette Blanc is made from Sauvignon Blanc and Gris . The grapes are put into direct pressing then alcoholic fermentation takes place in barrels, tuns and stainless steel vats. The wine is aged on lees, in barrels with a proportion of new barrels.
