Holdvölgy - Expression 2018
The Holdvölgy Estate is located in the Mád basin, in the Tokaj region of Hungary . In 1998, Pascal Demko , a young lawyer, visited the region at the request of his mother with the mission of finding a few hectares of vines in Tokaj for his father's birthday. Having fallen in love with the region, Pascal has never left it. In 2004, he founded Holdvölgy (“Valley of the Moon”) with the ambition of producing the best Tokaj. The first wines were only put on the market eight years later, in 2011. The estate covers 28 hectares of vines, divided into 27 plots located on seven different vintages on the slopes of Mád. The complexity of the soils and exposures is reflected in a high-level and resolutely modern range which illustrates all the facets of Tokay: from dry wines vinified as a single grape variety or in blends to the great sweet Aszú wines, including the subtleties of Szamorodni.
Expression is made from the Hárslevelú grape variety from the historic Class I vineyard of Becsek. The vine is around forty years old. The grapes are pressed directly and then fermented in barrels. The wine is aged for 6 months in barrels .
Grape variety: 100% Hárslevelú
