Domaine Belargus - Treilles - Monopole 2020
Domaine Belargus is located in Val-du-Layon, in the heart of Anjou Noir in the Loire Valley. The vines are distributed around three main islets (Savennières, Quarts-de-Chaume and Coteaux du Layon), themselves composed of unique terroirs, defined precisely by their exposure, their subsoil or their slope. Built by Ivan Massonnat , the 20-hectare biodynamic estate is dedicated to Chenin Blanc and explores these micro-terroirs in a plot approach inspired by Burgundian climates. The team is made up of young talents such as Adrien Moreau as head cellar and Amaury Chartier as head of cultivation and the estate benefits from the support of true Loire pioneers such as Jo Pithon and Guy Bossard.
The “Coteau des Treilles” Monopole was resurrected at the end of the 1990s by Jo Pithon. It was abandoned after the war because of its steep slopes (30 to 70%). Facing due south and overlooking the Layon, the plot is located on a veritable geological chaos composed of spilites, schists, sandstone and pudding which transmits its complexity and minerality to the wine. The wine is aged for 3 years.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
