Château Grand Village - Red 2021
Château Grand Village is a Bordeaux Supérieur located in Mouillac, north of Fronsac, in Bordeaux . It belongs to the Guinaudeau family , owner of Château Lafleur , the Grand Cru of Pomerol. The family has been established in the region since the 17th century, but the first vintage of Grand Village did not see the light of day until 1980. The 17.8 hectare vineyard is planted mainly with red grape varieties (14 hectares), with a small plot where Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon are grown. Château Grand Village uses the same vineyard cultivation techniques as those used at Château Lafleur.
Château Grand Village red is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc . The grapes are harvested manually, then sorted meticulously. The wine is vinified in traditional cement vats then is partially aged in barrels used in the vinification of Pomerol , with 30% of other new French oak barrels for approximately 12 months before bottling. These new barrels are then sent to Château Lafleur for the aging of the Grand Vin and Pensées de Lafleur for the following vintage.
