Friedrich Becker - Spätburgunder 2019
The Friedrich Becker Estate is located in the Pfalz region of Germany . After years of mixed farming, the family devoted itself to winegrowing in 1973. Today, Friedrich Becker is one of the most prominent and successful winegrowers in the world. most remarkable in Germany. It relies on traditional craftsmanship and careful treatment of its vines, ensuring that nature and its resources are respected. The vineyard extends over 14 hectares in the southern part of the region of Rhineland-Palatinate. The hillsides are numerous, and the soil, composed of stones, chalk and a significant proportion of clay, offers an ideal terrain for viticulture, especially for Pinot Noir. In addition, the Palatinate Forest plays the role of a natural barrier, protecting the region from rain and winds coming from the west.
This vintage is made from Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) whose vine age varies between 17 and 44 years. After the manual harvest, the crop is destemmed and fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in open wooden vats for 2 at 3 weeks with regular punching down. The wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.
