KRUG - Grande Cuvée 172nd edition
Krug is a Champagne house founded by Joseph Krug in 1843, originally from the Moselle region of Germany. The house has been in the Krug family for 6 generations and is now known as one of the most collectible and expensive Champagnes. Joseph Krug worked with Jacquesson when he moved to France and began by making a premium wine from a reserve of separately vinified wines that would eventually become the Grande Cuvée. Krug is a blend of 120 different wines from 10 or more vintages from the "Librairie Krug." Each year, the cellar master leads a tasting committee that decides on the final blend. Krug Vintage is only produced in the best years.
Krug Grande Cuvée 172nd Edition is a blend of Pinot Noir (44%), Chardonnay (36%) and Meunier (20%) from the 2016 vintage, complemented by reserve wines from several plots and 11 different years. It is produced from 146 wines, the youngest from 2016 and the oldest from 2000. This bottle has aged for at least 7 years in the Krug cellar.
