Château BEAU SITE 1996
Château Beau-Site is located in Saint-Estèphe , Bordeaux . The Beau-Site winery has existed since the 18th century and is one of several châteaux owned by the Castéja family since 1955, through their large trading company: Borie-Manoux. The property covers over 100 hectares, but only 35 hectares are planted with vines. The vineyard is planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, which accounts for 60% of production. Merlot dominates as the second most planted grape variety (30%), followed by small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The Château was awarded Cru Bourgeois Supérieur status in the 1932 Cru Bourgeois classification.
Château Beau-Site is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot . After harvest, the grapes are macerated, and fermentation lasts 14 to 20 days. Aging is carried out in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months , 40% of which are new . The 1996 vintage for Bordeaux was extremely good: a mild winter and a warm spring with a very warm March. A warm and dry September helped the grapes ripen, which particularly benefited the Médoc. The harvest was a success across the board.
