This artisanal production Bourbon, made with a high proportion of rye. It is a "Straight", which means from a single distillery and a single distillation. It is obtained by distilling a cereal beer fermented with sourdough. Each vat is seeded with a little of the previous vat according to the leaven principle. This leaven bears the name "Sour Mash". They are filtered on charcoal (we say "charcoal filtered") as two centuries ago. The rye used by Kentucky Distillers plays an incomparable role of flavor enhancer.
Johnny Drum is the superior vintage of Kentucky distillers, obtained by a more severe selection of barrels. More concentrated and complex than Old Bardstown, Johnny Drum is unanimous among connoisseurs, while Old Bardstown, which reveals comparable aromatic notes, will better satisfy those who prefer more discreet Bourbons.
