On this distillery the late Michael Jackson wrote: “Style: Fragrant. Robust. Bright fruity. Tropical fruit. Oily. A touch of smoke. To drink: Cordial or at night. "
Ben Nevis distillery
The Ben Nevis distillery owes its name to the highest mountain in the United Kingdom.
Located in Fort William, in the Western Highlands, it sits at the foot of Mount Ben Nevis which, at 1,344 meters, is Scotland's highest peak. Long served by the railway, the distillery also benefits from an abundant spring, Allt a 'Mhuilin, flowing on the north face of Ben Nevis, which is fed much of the year by melting snow.
It is clearly visible, on a very touristy road, but it is quite far from the other distilleries. It is considered to be part of the West Highlands, especially as it is on the edge of a loch. “Ben Nevis is a coastal distillery,” insists the director, Colin Ross, sitting in front of beautiful mountains.
