Domaine des Ardoisieres - Argile Blanc 2018
Prior to 1950, the Domaine des Ardoisières spread over 20,000 hectares for less than 3,000 hectares today.
The domain as known today was born in April 1997 by the crazy project of Michel Grisard, winemaker, to replant vines that were totally destroyed by phylloxera and fell into oblivion. He is joined 4 years later by Brice Omont, an agronomist and replant together a multitude of autochthonous grape varieties from Savoie: Jacquère, Roussanne, Altesse, Mondeuse noire et blanche, Chardonnay, Gamay, Persan... These vines are located on the Cévins hillside.
In 2007, the vineyard expands and the two men buy parcels on the slopes of Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy; it is the launch of the cuvée “Argile”.
This wine comes from vineyards on hillsides exposed West, on a terroir made of schistious marl and clay soil. It is a blend of 40% Jacquère, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Mondeuse Blanche. The aging lasts 9 months in vats for a tense result, while fresh and mineral.
