Domaine LAROQUE D'ANTAN - Néphèle - Claude and Lydia Bourguignon 2018
After the magnificent first vintage of the estate (the 2017) Claude and Lydia Bourguignon offer us their second vintage. These great specialists, known worldwide in the research and preservation of soil life have finally decided to put their passion and their know-how into practice to create this wonder. In the small town of Laroque des Arcs in the Lot, a few enclabures from Cahors, the domain of Laroque d'Anton was born on a land forgotten by men for 130 years! A land virgin of pesticides, insecticides and fungicides. A living land, full of life where the vines were planted by the Bourguiggnon family on a limestone hillside. Ideal exposure and natural drainge make this place a wonderful terroir.
The Nephèle 2018 vintage is the estate's white. Clos des Millésimes is happy to present it to you. A white wine with indigenous grape varieties from a mass selection:
50% Sauvignon Blanc from a mass selection of Domaine François Cotat.
30% Sauvignon Gris from a mass selection of Domaine Elian Da Ros
10% Mauzac pink and green from a mass election of Domaine Robert Plageoles
10% Verdanelle mass selection from Domaine Robert Plageoles
Sauvignon blanc and gris, Mauzac and Verdanel. The latter is a forgotten grape variety which owes its survival to the Plageoles estate in Gaillac. Cultivated of course in organic farming and biodynamics (organic certification in 2020), the estate only uses animal power for its vines so as not to compact the soil. Picked by hand, the wine is pressed and fermented. Only indigenous yeasts (yeasts naturally present in grapes). The wine will then be aged for 6 months in oak barrels before being bottled. This 2018 harvest produced only 1164 bottles. A rarity therefore! A wine on the minerality, sapid which breathes the soil and this magical place. To discover urgently...
