Clos des Lambrays 2018
Le Clos des Lambrays is located in Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy. The Clos des Lambrays vineyard has existed since the 14th century but was then divided between 74 owners following the French Revolution. It was not reunited until 1868, then over the following centuries, the vineyard changed hands on several occasions and fell into disarray, before being bought by Roland de Chambure and Fabien and Louis Saier in 1979. The new owners revitalised the estate and, in 1981, it was classified Grand Cru. In 1996, ownership passed to Gunter and Ruth Freund.
The vines of Clos des Lambrays are around forty years old, resting on soils of limestone marl and silt. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, and most of them are not destemmed. Pinot Noir is fermented in open stainless steel vats before aging for 18 months in French oak barrels, half of which are new.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
