Domaine de l'Arlot - Clos des Forets Saint-Georges 2014
Domaine de l'Arlot is located on the Côte de Nuits, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy. The estate has vines in several prestigious vineyards, including two Premier Cru vineyards; the Clos de Forêts Saint-Georges and Clos de l'Arlot monopoly. The Arlot vineyard was created in the 18th century when the owner of the property built the closed wall. It was later enlarged by wine merchant Jules Belin after his takeover in 1891. Its modern incarnation stems from the sale of the property by the heirs of Belin to the French investment company AXA Millésimes, which also owns several other wineries. AXA has further extended the holdings of Domaine de l'Arlot with plots of the Premier Cru Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots and Grand Cru Romanée Saint-Vivant vineyards. Agricultural practices have been organic since 2000 and biodynamic since 2003.
The Clos des Forêts Saint Georges Monopole is a Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru. The monopole defines a land unit, perfectly defined for centuries and which belongs to a single owner. Clos des Forêts Saint Georges covers an area of 7.2 hectares in one piece, planted entirely with Pinot Noir. The harvest is manual and the vinification traditional: minimalist vatting, pumping over and punching down without excess to reveal all the characteristics of the terroir. Aging lasts 15 months in barrels (with a maximum of 50% new oak), then 3 months in vats before bottling.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
