Château de Reignac - Grand Vin de Reignac 2017
Château de Reignac is located in Saint-Loubès, in the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux. It was acquired in 1990 by Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot, but the original château was built in the 16th century and remodelled in the 18th and 19thcentury, including a greenhouse designed by Gustave Eiffel. Château de Reignac got several distinctions from Robert Parker (90 points in 1996, 92 points in 2000) and Michel Rolland, famous oenologist, is a consultant for the wines of the Château. Since 2006, Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot are creating a new viticultural process that respects the environmental integrity. The vineyard is made from three types of soils: marlstone, limestone and gravel enabling them to produce red and white wines with different profiles.
The Grand Vin de Reignac is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc cultivated on clay-gravel rises. The wine undergoes a cold maceration prior to fermentation to extract aromas and tannins structure. The fermentation is carried out in inox tanks, with each grape variety fermented separately and by lot. The fermenting must is regularly pumped over, with or without aeration, and the cap is punched manually. The final wine is entirely aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
