De Martino - Legado Carménère 2017
De Martino is located in Maipo Valley, in Chile. Pietro De Martino arrived in Chile from Italy in 1934 and decided to seek a place that was as unique as the wine he dreamed of making. Isla de Maipo, with its alluvial soils and Mediterranean climate, offered the perfect conditions for growing vines and making wine. Since 1934, four generations of the De Martino family have suceeded to one other and have been farming sustainably the estate. They produce several ranges of wine: De Martino Series, Single Vineyard, Itata Series, Old Vines, Cellar Collection and D’Oro.
This Legado Reserva comes from a vineyard planted with Carmenere between 1992 and 1998. The grapes were manually harvested and after selection and destemming, the grapes were transferred to tanks where they underwent cold maceration prior to fermentation with their native yeasts. The wine spent a total of 30 days in contact with the skins and was aged for 15 months in used French oak barrels.
Grape variety: 100% Carmenere
