Domaine de la Pousse d'Or - Corton Grand Cru - Clos du Roi 2018
Domaine de la Pousse d´Or is located in Volnay, in Burgundy. It produces 5 Grands Crus, 11 Premier Crus (including 3 Monopoles), in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The plots representing around 17 hectares are managed using certified biodynamic methods. The estate was founded by Gérard Potel in 1964 and since the end of the last century, Patrick Landanger has owned the estate. He made significant investments both in the vines and in the vinification and aging facilities. He is joined by his son, Benoît, who has been helping him with winemaking since 2013. In 2018, Patrick gives way to Benoît for the management of the Domaine de la Pousse D’Or.
Corton Le Clos du Roi is a Grand Cru from a 1.45-hectare plot, bordered by a stone wall in its upper and lower part and a path in its lower part. The plot is orientated to the east on clay-limestone terroir. Half of the Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1979 and the other half in 1987. Harvests are manual and three sortings are carried out in the winery. The bunches are destemmed and the grapes are cold macerated for 5 to 7 days, with an average fermentation lasting 21 days. The wine is aged on lees for 16 to 18 months, including 12 months in oak barrels.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
