KELLER - Pius Beerenauslese (Liquoreux) 2004
Weingut Keller is located in the Rheinhessen in the municipality of Flörsheim-Dalsheim, in Germany. The estate's origins date back to 1789 when Johann Leonhard Keller acquired property at the esteemed Hubacker vineyard – a classified Erste Lage by the VDP. The family-owned and operated business has been managed by Klaus Peter Keller since 2001.
Pius is produced from late-harvest and botrytis-infected fruit, and tends to be made from Rieslaner, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris and other varieties though this changes from vintage to vintage. The minimum must weight requirements for Beerenauslese in Germany is between 110 to 128 degrees Oechsle (the hydrometer scale measuring the density of grape must), depending on the region and grape variety.
