RENEGADE - Pre Cask - Old Bacolet - 50%
Renegade Rum Distillery is the newest project from the man behind the renaissance of Islay’s Bruichladdich Single Malt whisky and Ireland’s terroir-driven Waterford Distillery: Mark Reynier. He chose Grenada because of its wide range of altitudes, microclimates and soils. Working with agricultural partners at CaneCo, he was able to grow numerous varieties of sugar cane across the island on the various terroirs. Old and young, skilled or amateur, numerous Grenadians have learned new skills, mastered modern machinery, and transformed parts of the island into farms full of high quality sugar cane.
Old Bacolet is made from a variety called Cain (B77602) harvested between the 30th of November and the 3rd of December 2020 on the Riverside field. The fermentation of the cane lasted 2 days and distillation took place on the 5thand 6th of December 2020 in a pot still. The rum was bottled in early July 2021 and 3,726 bottles have been produced.
More information is available on Renegade’s Website in the “CaneCode” section with the code shown on the bottle.
