Clos Canereccia - Cuvée des Pierre - Rouge 2019
Clos Canereccia is located in Aléria, in Haute-Corse. The estate was founded in the early 1970s by Pierre Estève. Since 2010, his grandson Christian Estève took over the management. He began by completely restructuring the 35 hectares, and replaced the Merlot plots with local grape varieties such as Sciaccarellu, Carcajolu Neru and Vermentinu. Since 2017, the entire estate, which now covers 9 hectares, has been converting to organic farming.
The Cuvée des Pierre Rouge is a blend of Niellucciu (50%), Syrah (25%) and Grenache (25%). The grapes spend 12 hours in a cold room then are vatted by gravity. Fermentation at 26°C lasts 20 days with two pumping overs per day, then the temperature is increased to 30°C for 15 days. The aging lasts 6 months in oak barrels, and 6 months in stainless steel vats.
