Château de la Tour - Vieilles Vignes - Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2019
Château de La Tour is located in the Clos de Vougeot vineyard, in the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. The domaine is owned by the Labet and Déchelette families and has been managed by François Labet since 1984. The estate's holdings total around 5.5 hectares, in plots on the middle and upper slopes of the Clos, making it the largest landholder in the famously fragmented 50-hectares vineyard. The Domaine has been organic since 1992. Château de la Tour's best parcel is planted to vines that are more than 100 years old, and are the source for the Cuvée Vieilles Vignes. The château itself was built in 1890, and today serves as the winery for both Chateau de la Tour and Domaine Pierre Labet wines.
The grapes are whole-bunch fermented and then matured in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. The proportion of new oak depends on the cuvée: 50% for the standard Clos Vougeot cuvée and 100% for the Vieilles Vignes.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
