La Bastide Saint Dominique - Châteauneuf du Pape - The Hesperides 2019
La Bastide Saint Dominique is located in Courthézon, in the Southern Rhône . Built around an old 16th century chapel, the estate was created in 1976 by Gérard and Marie-Claude Bonnet with a handful of plots. Over time and with a strong will, they develop their vineyard which today reaches 50 hectares in production in protected designations of origin Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Cairanne, Châteauneuf du Pape and IGP Méditerranée. Since 1999, their son Éric has been making wine and marketing his production by combining traditional know-how and a modern approach to viticulture. The estate has been certified in organic farming since 2014.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape "Les Hespérides" is a blend of Grenache (50%) and Mourvèdre (50%) grown in the place called Les Bédines. The harvest is completely destemmed and then the grapes are vatting in stainless steel vats for 25 days. Vinification is carried out by grape varieties in vats with punching down and some pumping over for extraction. Aging lasts 18 months in vats and 600-litre barrels before blending and bottling.
Grapes: 50% Grenache, 50% Mourvèdre
