Chateau TROTTEVIEILLE 2019
Château Trotte Vieille is located in Saint-Émilion , Bordeaux . It is classified Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the official classification of Saint-Émilion wines and has belonged to the trading company Borie-Manoux since 1949. Viticulture at Château Trotte Vieille was officially recorded for the first time in a document dating from 1453, making La Trotte Vieille one of the oldest in the appellation. Indeed, some of the vines in the 10-hectare enclosed vineyard are over 140 years old. The dominant grape variety is Merlot, closely followed by Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. These vines are planted in red clay soils covering limestone.
The Grand Vin de Château Trotte Vieille 2019 is a blend of Merlot (49%), Cabernet Franc (46%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The harvest is done manually and the grapes are fermented in concrete tanks at a controlled temperature. Fermentation lasts 4 weeks, then the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 18 to 24 months. The 2019 vintage is considered a very good vintage. The wines are described as having moderate to high alcohol levels, with sophisticated tannins and aromatic qualities favoring elegance over power.
